The Red de creadores de contenido (network of content creators) was officially launched in December 2021, after a phase of shared reflections between UGT and Spanish content creators. The network works as a space where content creators can share their experience and to which the union can contribute with its expertise on social dialogue and collective bargaining, in organising and establishing dialogue with administrations and platforms.  A first meeting took place on 10 and 11 December to set the network’s objectives and discuss a series of main topics of interest, such as recognising content creation as work, the transparency of the algorithm governing the social networks where content creators operate, clearer policies on compensations and sanctions, copyright and hate speech. The red de creadores de contenido now calls for similar initiatives to be launched in other countries in the European Union, to join forces against platforms operating transnationally.
