The Economic and Social Council of the Republic of Bulgaria adopted in March 2025 an Analysis on the Directive on the improvement of working conditions in platform work.

In May 2026, The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy established an interdepartmental working group for the transposition of the Directive, which will develop a text to put in the labour code on the key issues such as the rebuttable presumption of employment etc.

The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Bulgaria (CITUB) have discussed the main issues relating to platform work and the Directive in a recent podcast (in Bulgarian).

CITUB, together with the Institute for Social and Trade Union Research and Training (ISSIO), conducted a field survey among persons working in platform work as part of their work to develop a policy on platform work legislation. The survey interviewed platform workers across several sectors, including ridehail, food delivery, tourism, finance and music & film. It found that most platform workers earned the majority of their income through platform work.
